SAT Optional Essay Section

The SAT Essay is a lot like a typical college writing assignment in which you are asked to analyze a text. The essay portion is optional, but some colleges require it.

You will:

1) Read a passage

2) Explain how the author builds an argument to persuade an audience and

3) Support your explanation with evidence from the passage. You won't be asked to agree or disagree with a position on a topic, or to write about your personal experience. You will have 50 minutes to complete your essay.
