The location of Yale University in New Haven, Connecticut can cause some applicants to overlook this top MBA program as an option. However, as an Ivy League institution, Yale's brand recognition is hard to beat.
Noted for it's socially consciousness and relevance to the current climate, Yale's MBA program offers students exposure to non-profit and public sector management in a number of electives and community outreach opportunities. To further encourage students to be proactive in the community, Yale's Internship Fund provides aid to students who commit to low-paying jobs in a non-profit or public sector setting.
In order to broaden students' global business consciousness, Yale mandates that all first year students must spend two weeks abroad. This mandatory time abroad helps expose students to different cultures and how business is conducted outside of the United States.
Recently, Yale has eliminated it's traditional core requirements, such as Finance and Marketing. These requirements have been replaced with eight core courses called "Organizational Perspectives", where students explore the roles of everyone involved in the business world, such as a stakeholder or an investor.
Yale challenges it's students to utilize their entrepreneurial praxis, and the university is a partner school in the Haas-led Global Social Venture Competition. Students may also take part in the Program on Social Enterprise which provides them with the guidance and resources necessary to make a positive social impact in the business world.
